When her mom was still 11 weeks pregnant with her, Gracie was diagnosed with Down syndrome and soon after, doctors discovered something else; she also had a congenital heart defect that would require surgery shortly after birth. Gracie’s parents researched which specialist would be the best to take care of their daughter, and one name that kept on coming up was Dr. Redmond Burke at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. They are so grateful for the care they’ve received at Nicklaus Children’s that they have now becomes advocates in expanding the hospital’s services to other areas. Almost two years old now, Gracie is walking, beginning to talk and ready to take the world in her hands.
