Patient of the Month: Andrew

March 2016

Andrew was born with chronic lung disease and has had to live his entire life connected to a ventilator that helps him breathe. He’s been receiving treatment at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital since he was three months old, and along the way he and his family were told about VACC Camp (Ventilation Assisted Children’s Center Camp), a week-long camp free of charge for patients like him, supported by Miami Children’s Health Foundation.

Accompanied by the nurses and doctors who know him, Andrew has been able to participate in activities his mom thought he would never be able to do, like going to the beach!
