Nicklaus Children’s Hospital joins in the celebration of Walmart’s 30-year anniversary as a Children Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) partner, an international non-profit that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals in the United States. As a partner since 1987, Walmart has raised more than $3,014,404.90 for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and $930 million up to 2016 across the nation, and aims to reach the $1 billion mark for 2017.
“For 30 years, Walmart and CMN Hospitals have worked together to raise funds for local children’s hospitals, and this year, through direct contributions and funds raised at our stores and clubs, we hope to reach our goal of one billion dollars,” said Jaime Fernandez, Regional General Manager for Walmart in South Florida. “A testament of the company’s aim to help the community and the associates up and above dedication to help our children.”
“When my son got sick, I moved to be near Nicklaus Children’s Hospital knowing that he would get the best care possible with specialized doctors that would do everything possible to restore his health,” said Heredia Largaespada, a local Walmart Associate. “By helping to raise funds, you are helping children like my son Isaac, and kids in our community to have the chance to be happy and healthy with a bright future ahead of them.”
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital processes over 400,000 visits in South Florida alone--children with illnesses and injuries of every kind. In fact, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals treat one in 10 children in North America each year.
“Donations through CMN Hospitals and partners like Walmart helps us provide state-of-the-art medical services, research and preventative care for children in South Florida,” said Tim Birkenstock, Interim CEO and President of Miami Children’s Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. “We are grateful for the commitment of Walmart’s leadership, associates, and customers to raise funds for our hospital to help guarantee that children in Florida have a chance to a healthier future.”
You can make a donation at registers at Walmart and Sam’s Clubs stores now through October 29.
