The hospital’s recent name change to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, in honor of a generous pledge from the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, caused a ripple of changes across the institution. As all areas are gradually being upgraded to reflect the new name and logo, the hospital recently unveiled the new look for its LifeFlight® fleet, including upgrades that were made possible thanks to the support of some of our donors.

One of the upgrades was the addition of a new ambulance, an initiative supported by the Shane McGee Foundation and CIT Aerospace. The Shane McGee Foundation has donated a total of $346,000 over the years in support of LifeFlight. The foundation’s support allowed for the purchase of the new ambulance, as well as the previous implementation of a helicopter cockpit modification and Night Vision goggles for pilots when traveling at night. For the past three years, CIT has hosted its annual CIT Aerospace Golf Invitational benefiting the hospital’s LifeFlight program. More than $328,000 has been raised through the golf tournaments, some of which contributed to this newest addition to the LifeFlight fleet.  

The new look for the ambulances and helicopter aims to be more child-friendly, featuring a heart and teddy bear graphic to match the recently revamped overall look of the hospital. To read more about the recent enhancements and new technology added to the LifeFlight fleet, click here.
