Former Miami Heat superstar Shane Battier visited Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in December, where he toured the hospital’s Telehealth department, the Michael Fux Family Center, and spent time with several young patients in the cardiac unit, including one aspiring basketball player, pictured above. The NBA champion offered some words of wisdom to the 14-year-old, telling him even though he may be in the hospital right now, he can still work on his basketball skills through visualization and maintaining a positive spirit.
In January, Shane will be playing for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in the Ace Hardware Shootout golf tournament, benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The player who wins the golf portion of the tournament will bring home a cash prize for their respective hospital. There is also a prize for the player who receives the most likes on social media when the tournament airs on television.
