Patient of the Month: Roy

Published on: 06/29/2022

When Roy began to complain about a pain in his mouth, his parents took him to a dentist to find out what was wrong. Initially, they were told his molars could be coming in and causing him pain. But when Roy’s parents began to notice a lump growing on the side of his face, they knew something wasn’t right. They immediately took Roy to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for further testing where doctors in fact revealed a mass in his mouth, just behind his jaw. A biopsy was taken and doctors confirmed a diagnosis of osteosarcoma.

Thanks to the multidisciplinary team approach using the most advanced medical technologies at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Roy’s tumor was removed and he continues to undergo treatment for his condition. His parents are forever grateful for all the doctors that saved their little boy’s life.
