We introduce you to our Patient of the Month, Andres. When he was in high school, Andres was a wrestler, competing at some of the highest levels in the state. Then, in his senior year, the unimaginable happened; Andres suffered injuries that made it impossible for him to continue wrestling. It was Dr. Stephen Swirsky, orthopedic surgeon at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, who told Andres the hard news. Dr. Swirsky has been treating Andres for several years and operated on him to repair the injured muscles.
While it’s been a hard and heartbreaking journey, thanks to the treatment Andres has received at Nicklaus Children’s and through working with Dr. Swirsky, Andres is on the way to recovery and hopeful to one day compete again, stronger and better than before.
