Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Blooms With Delight, Celebrating the Benjamin & Sara Vargas Family Butterfly Garden

Published on: 07/21/2016
The Butterfly Garden at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has a name thanks to the generosity of Branka and Jose Vargas. A ceremony on July 24 unveiled the new Benjamin & Sara Vargas Family Butterfly Garden, named in honor of their children, Benjamin and Sara. The Benjamin & Sara Vargas Family Butterfly Garden is an inviting space where patients, family, staff and neighbors can enjoy the lush vegetation and visiting butterflies. During the naming ceremony, Benjamin and Sara let butterflies spread their wings as they released them into their new home.

The butterfly garden has been recognized by Fairchild Tropical Garden, and now that it is named, it can be certified by the State of Florida as an official butterfly habitat. This naming comes at a time when other campus enhancements are taking off as well, such as the Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion, bringing an overall atmosphere of excitement to the hospital.
